Carry-on Luggage
What is carry-on luggage?
This is luggage you DON’T have to check in prior to boarding. You can get on the plane after going through the security checkpoint aka TSA. Carry-on luggage typically has limitations based on your airline but is typically limited to a small suitcase/duffle and a personal bag (e.g. backpack/purse)
Weight and Size matters — the aircraft has limited cabin space inside the plane to ensure all passengers can fit at least ONE carry-on luggage.
Typical size: 24 inches x 17.5 inches x 11.5 inches , Overall Dimensions: 26.5 inches x 17.75 inches x 11.75 inches. Most luggage collections have designated carry-on sizes, research away using key word “carry-on”!
Be efficient, find a carry-on that is suitable for you and easy to maneuver on the go!
What I typically pack on my carry-on:
(1) Personal bag, aka “the backpack” — this is crucial to store your important documents and items that require to be near you at all times.
Passport/ID
Wallet/Flight itinerary
Phone/laptop/tablet
1 outfit just in case your check-in luggage is lost/delayed and you need a fresh change of clothes
311 Liquids Rule — lotion, toothpaste, etc.
(2) Carry-on bag/suitcase, your outfits. Try not to over-pack. Some items to consider:
Pack shirts and pants that you can wear more than once and can be rotated to make multiple outfits
A clean bag for dirty clothes
Take a photo of each outfit before packing so you have an idea of what you are wearing, will prevent overpacking
Tip: clothes and toiletries are replaceable and sold everywhere matter domestic or international — so don’t get caught up with packing shampoo or body wash — save room for that cute dress and camera!
Be sure to research the weather of your destination so you can pack outfits accordingly.
